Dr Louise Price Bostic was selected as the outstanding art student in 1957 at her high school in Ardmore, Oklahoma. During her last four years in public school she designed the senior yearbook cover, senior graduation announcements and numerous student projects, both academic and extracurricular. The support and encouragement she was given in those years at this academically outstanding high school, influenced more than sixty years of creativity involving unlimited exploration of media and creations reflecting decades of styles in art both traditional and modern. Her current work reflects this unbounded media and liberation in subject matter.

Trained in Classic design principles, these sketches and drawings are studies of models, encounters, and nature. Reliefs combine the essential elements of classic design with materials and technology affected by time and erosive exposure. The natural colors and quality of metals in found materials are enhanced with rhythmic patterns, texture, and focus to create a modern vision dedicated to historic design concepts. Cautiously avoided are those elements that reflect novelty or triviality. Any movements such as art deco, cubism or expressionism reflected in parts of her work are there, not through intent, but because of the adherence to classic design. No conscious attempt to follow a period or philosophy is made.
If philosophy or social statement seems suggested it is there only as a natural generation of the elements contained in the composition. Bostic states, “ I would like my work to be classified as ‘Art for the Sake of Art’”.

The soul of this and so many artists is bent on improving and enhancing the world while uplifting and preserving the environment
Freedom within the attainment of those goals is almost always reflective in the works of the artists themselves.
Bostic’s studio is nestled in a modest residential neighborhood. Sheltered by the shade of enormous trees which provide refreshing coolness on the most sweltering summer afternoons, the studio itself is set back a comfortable distance from the quiet street. Black, white red, blue, brown and yellow birds sing all the day and butterflies find nourishment in the abundance of wild flowers all around.
Amid the bustle and sounds of nature’s creatures, a virtual urban paradise occupies the small space with just enough solitude to allow creativity to flourish.
In this small town in an ancient neighborhood of southern Louisiana a substantial number of artists, musicians, writers, composers, performers, sculptors, and playwrights own modest homes where they live and work in proximity to each other respecting the need for privacy while remaining vigilant to a complex support system understood by those of like minds.
Somewhat recluse by nature, these creative minds find an ironic togetherness and strength in their own solitude. Fully aware of the brotherhood they share, they communicate in intellectual silence day after day and through the years. If emergencies arise adversities or adversaries are quickly addressed and peace is restored in almost every case without incidence or the necessity of outside assistance. Time here is a happy existence and an almost perfect life for creative genius to thrive.
